PROFILESo Nyuh Shi Dae is a nine-member girl group created by SM Entertainment. The group is made up of teenage girls who are said to be perpared for success across Asia, thus securing them the English name Girls" Generation. The group"s music is based on pop and is immediately catchy, which could account for the group"s instant success.BIOGRAPHYSo Nyuh Shi Dae is an SM Entertainment girl-group made up of nine members. The formation of such a large group lead to immediate comparisons to their male counterparts, Super Junior. The group were formed with the aim of becoming popular all across Asia and possibly even the world. With this in mind, members were chosen who could speak Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese.Most of the members of the group have been featured in other aspects of the entertainment industry, even though they are all of a young age. Yoona (Lim Yoona), had been featured on commercials for Sanyo Eneloop and Clean and Clear as well as appearing in a Sunkist commercial alongside Super Junior"s Heechul and Kangin. As well as these, she also appeared in music videos for DBSK (Magic Castle) and Super Junior (My Everything).Tiffany (Stephanie Hwang) was raised in California before moving to South Korea. She gained a place in SM Entertainment after winning the SM Starlight Casting System contest in 2004, at the age of 13. As she was raised in America, she is fluent in English, which made her one of the prime candidates for the group. She, along with Jessica (Jeong Soo Jun), are the only members who are fluent in English. Jessica had trained with SM Entertainment for over 7 years before joining So Nyuh She Dae, an impressive feat considering she was barely 18 when the group formed.Yuri (Kwon Yuri) first appeared on TV on Super Junior"s TV show The King"s Boyfriend as well as making appearances in a music video for DBSK (Beautiful Life).Hyoyeon (Kim Hyoyeon) first appeared in 2005 on the M.net/KM Music Festival as a dancer for BoA.Sooyoung (Choi Soo Young) was one of the first members to attempt to enter show business. At the age of 11, she participated in Asayan"s Korea Japan Ultra Idol Duo Audition and, out of 15,000 entrants, was chosen to be part of the duo with Japanese singer Takahashi Marina and became the duo route0. The group only released three singles and one DVD before disbanding. After this, she headed back to Korea to appear in an Anycall commercial alongside Park Jung Ah. Before being offered a place in So Nyuh Shi Dae, Sooyoung was rumoured to be one of the members of an 11 member group called Super GirlsIn 2004, Seohyun (Seo Juhyun) started out as a model for the uniform company SMART, while Taeyeon (Kim Taeyeon) was featured in The One"s song You Bring Me Joy.The band"s line-up was complete with the inclusion of Sunny (Lee Son Kyu) who was the last member to join. She and the other eight members of the group debuted in 2007 on M.net"s School of Rock which was held at Jung Shin Girls High School, which was actually attended by So Nyuh Shi Dae member Sooyoung.The group"s debut single, Into the New World was released in August 2007. The second track on the single, Beginning was a remake of a song by the Swedish girl group Play. The first performance of the single was on SBS"s Inki Gayo, which aired on August the 5th.The group released their self-titled album in November 2007. The album featured the single, Sonyeosidae (Girls" Generation), which was originally a hit for Lee Seung Chul in the 80s. To celebrate this cover, Lee Seung Chul appeared on KM M!Countdown with the girls performing the song.In November 2007, the group were given the strange priviledge of being appointed PR representatives for the Girl Scouts. The Korean Girl Scout League said that the group were popular among young teens and presented a good image. The group were officially appointed in February 2008 and took part in international campaigning projects as well as promotion for the organistion.On Valentine"s Day 2008, So Nyuh Shi Dae released a compilation album through avex called Sweet Memories with So Nyuh Shi Dae on which the girls chose their favourite J-pop songs. Some of their choices included Koda Kumi"s Koi no tsubomi and DBSK"s Love in the Ice.
